Iran Requests to Hold Special Session in Istanbul

(MENAFN) At the request of Iran, a dedicated meeting involving all members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) will take place as part of the bloc’s 51st Council of Foreign Ministers session in Istanbul, amid the ongoing Israel-Iran conflict, diplomatic insiders revealed on Saturday.

The confidential gathering is planned for Saturday evening, according to details acquired from sources within the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

As Israeli assaults on Gaza persist alongside tensions with Iran, Istanbul once more becomes the center of a critical event, attracting international focus to Türkiye.

The Turkish city is currently hosting the 51st Council of Foreign Ministers session of the OIC, organized under the theme “The OIC in a Transforming World.”

Being a founding member of the OIC, Türkiye has played a significant role in numerous initiatives within the organization and has hosted many of its major events.

This session held in Türkiye is predicted to be one of the most widely attended meetings in the history of the OIC.

Attendance is expected to approach approximately 1,000 delegates, setting a new record for high-level participation compared to earlier meetings.
